Constitutional Hill
Constitution Hill in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, will offer free tours to the public today as South Africa marks Reconciliation Day.
The initiative forms part of the festive season programme aimed at promoting social cohesion and shared history.
Visitors will be able to explore some of the country’s most significant heritage sites.
The free tours will include access to the Women’s Jail, the Old Fort, the Mandela Cell, the Constitutional Court, and the Number Four Men’s Prison.
Organisers have encouraged members of the public to make it a full-day outing by combining the visit with Johannesburg’s Red Bus Tour.
The event is expected to attract families, tourists and history enthusiasts from across Gauteng.
The initiative is supported by Gauteng tourism stakeholders and government departments as part of efforts to boost local tourism and commemorate reconciliation through shared heritage.
