Accused in the Meyiwa murder trial
Absolom Zungu has denied making a statement to Brigadier Bongani Gininda, lead investigator in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case.
Zungu is the second witness to be called by the defence to testify at the High Court in Pretoria.
Five men are on trial for the 2014 murder of the Bafana Bafana captain.
Zungu is the father of state key witness Constable Sizwe Zungu who placed all the five accused at a hostel in Vosloorus the day of the alleged hit.
It’s alleged that Absolom informed the police about some of the accused in court were responsible for the contact killing.
In responding to questions from defense counsel Charles Mnisi, Zungu denied this.
“That according to you, a statement has to be taken at police station. But in essence- did you ever sit down with Gininda and tell him this information that he said you told him?” Mnisi asked.
“No, I never told him that, if it is the very same day that day went to fetch me, then they were doing as they pleased,” says Zungu.
