The Constitutional Court will on Friday provide the full judgment behind its July order that refused direct access to the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) and former President Jacob Zuma’s bid to invalidate President Cyril Ramaphosa’s three-related decisions.
These were to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on a leave of absence, the subsequent appointment of Firoz Cachalia as well as the establishment of the Madlanga Commission.
The apex court, in July, stated that the matter did not fall within its jurisdiction.
The MKP’s recent attempt to revive the matter in the High Court in Pretoria failed, after the matter was struck from the roll for lack of urgency.
Ramaphosa established the commission following KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s allegations that senior police officials interfere with police operations and have links to criminal syndicates.
