The community of Ratlou extension in Thaba Nchu remains calm pending the post-mortem results of the eight-year-old boy who died on Christmas Day.
It is alleged that Nkosinathi Modise died after he and his three siblings consumed snacks bought from a spaza shop.
They were all admitted to the hospital complaining about stomach aches and were discharged on December 23.
The angry community members in Thaba Nchu, Free State, have called for spaza shops to be closed in the area while waiting for the results.
Secretary of the Sthiba Council of Joint Forums, Peter Kgolokoane says they are happy the spaza shop in question is closed.
“We feel much relieved now that we see that the shop is still closed that gives us relief and confidence from the government because the premier with her entourage, when they were here, on Monday, they gave us an assurance they will do something about this matter and we must remain calm and allow the law to take its course. Until such time as when the results of the post-mortem are out, then the matter will be revisited and then they promised us that they will come personally to deliver the results to the community,” says Kgolokoane.
