Judge Mbuyiseli Madlanga
The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry doesn’t agree with the application brought by North West businessman Suleiman Carrim to argue the merits of his application in camera.
His legal counsel, Adv Kameel Prehmid has argued that Carrim was receiving death threats and thus having his testimony heard in an open session would be prejudicial to him.
Commissioner Sesi Baloyi SC put it to Prehmid that there was no legal basis for him to have the application in camera.
“The legal basis for him to seek for to be heard in camera, his application to be heard in camera. I’ve never, ever encountered that. And I don’t see a legal basis for it set out in your submissions, but also the factual allegations, if there are any factual allegations here. I don’t understand this application here Mr Prehmid.”
