Madlanga Commission Chairperson Mbuyiseli Madlanga has read out a WhatsApp message where Sergeant Fannie Nkosi is requesting the cellphone numbers of entertainment blogger Musa Khawula from SABC journalist Natasha Phiri.
The WhatsApp message exchange shows that Sergeant Nkosi paid Phiri R500 after she sent him Khawula’s numbers.
Sergeant Nkosi has disputed the notion that he was paying Phiri for Khawula’s personal information.
However, Justice Madlanga has disputed Sergeant Nkosi’s assertion, putting it to him that Phiri wanted something for the exchange of information.
“Because she sends you the number at 641.27 p.m. on the 22nd of October, 2024. And you are silent. You do not even acknowledge the fact that she has sent this to you. And the same day, at 9.10.02 p.m., she writes to you, not even a thank you. Sies. Yes, Commissioner. You see? So she wanted something for having given you this information.”
