Businessman Brown Mogotsi testifying at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, 18 November 2025.
The Madlanga Commission in Pretoria will today continue with cross examination of North-West businessman Brown Mogotsi.
The commission yesterday heard how Mogotsi allegedly lied about being employed in Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s office.
This was for an application for a warrant to record a conversation between him and an alleged informant.
The North-West businessman conceded that he couldn’t have managed to receive the application if he presented himself as just Brown Mogotsi.
Mogotsi was being cross-examined by Matthew Chaskalson.
Chaskalson: “So, you’re now saying you did lie under oath by saying that you were employed in government within the office of the Minister of Police. That was false and you knew it was false but you thought I needed to do it to enable Lieutenant Colonel Schnell to give me authority under Section 252A. Because I could not tell him that I’m an agent.”
Mogotsi: “Yes, this was for the purpose of work.”
Chaskalson: “So, when it’s for the purposes of work you’re saying you can lie under oath?”
