The Cape Town Street Parade, also known as Tweede Nuwe Jaar, procession will fill the streets of the CBD today.
The City’s Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says approximately 20 000 performers from 18 minstrel troupes will entertain spectators with their symphony of instruments.
Smith says the procession will start in District Six around midday.
He says the City is also expecting thousands of spectators at the City Hall and along Darling Street where minstrels are also set to perform.
The procession will affect several streets between this morning and midnight.
