Col. Dweba concludes testimony, Cradock Four Inquest to resume Friday

The inquest looking into the deaths of the Cradock Four at the Gqeberha High Court in the Eastern Cape has been adjourned to Friday.

On Wednesday, the inquest’s investigating officer, Col. Mthetheleli Dweba, took the stand and was cross-examined by lawyers representing the families of the slain activists.

Dweba testified that it was difficult to assemble the docket because the people of interest were either dead or refused to give statements.

He said he used evidence from the past two inquests to build his investigation.

“I also found out that there was Mr Neil Bernard, who was in the security cluster. I decided to visit him to get more information and found him in the Western Cape. He bluntly refused to talk to me, he just insulted me, he said he won’t talk to me, I must talk to my black lawyers. It was clear to me that Mr. Bernard would never cooperate in this investigation.”
