Taxi boss killed near Delft, Cape Town.
Taxi organisation CODETA in the Western Cape has distanced itself from recent violence in the taxi industry. The violence led to the murder of a rival taxi boss on the R300, near Delft, on the Cape Flats.
The deceased was a member of a rival taxi organisation, CATA. The murder occurred on the first day of the reopening of various taxi routes in the Somerset West area.
The routes had been closed for 30 days after violence in the taxi industry resulted in the deaths of eight people. Yesterday’s incident brings the death toll to nine.
CODETA’s provincial chairperson, Nceba Enge, has urged role players to remain calm.
