The late Lindani Myeni.
A civil lawsuit into the death of former South African rugby player Lindani Myeni who resided in Honolulu, Hawaii in the United States, is set to go to trial next year.
This comes after the chairperson of the Honolulu City Council cancelled a planned vote on a proposed 1.5 million dollar settlement which was negotiated earlier by the city’s attorneys and those representing Myeni’s widow, Lindsay Myeni.
Myeni was shot and killed by three officers from the Honolulu Police Department in 2021 following a confrontation at his home in Nuʻuanu.
He was 29 years old at the time of his death.
Meanwhile, in her lawsuit, Lindsay alleges that police officers acted recklessly and without justification on the night they killed her husband on April 14th.
