City Power halts services in Alexandra after technicians attacked

City Power has halted all restoration work in Vezinyawo, Alexandra in the North of Johannesburg, following the attack and kidnapping of their technicians while on duty.

Several individuals approached and seized the keys of three City Powers vehicles, demanding power to be restored.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena condemned the actions and says a criminal case has since been opened.

“We want to reiterate that City Power will not proceed with any restoration work of any other services in that area, until all the meters that we have been installing across Alexandra have been restored and even the residents there are paying for electricity,” says Mangena.
