Colleagues of renowned actor Presley Chweneyagae say his death is a great loss to the industry.
They were speaking at the actor’s home in Motlhabeng village near Mahikeng in the North West ahead of his memorial service at the Mmabatho Convention Centre today.
Chweneyagae died last Tuesday at the age of 40.
Veteran actor, Israel Matseke Zulu says that after the movie Tsotsi was shot he got closer to Chweneyagae. “I liked Presley…he was younger than me, but I wanted to take care of him in terms of the dangers of the industry, just to mentor and be with him.”
Actor, Rantebeng Makapan, who also mentored Chweneyagae, says: “We have lost a giant, I don’t know what to call him anymore. We lost somebody who could have contributed a lot to this industry, his ideas, he had plans, he wanted us to come back home and try to revive Mmabana (Arts, Culture and Sports Foundation).”
