Christians pray for an end to crime, corruption and abuse

As Christians across the world observe the resurrection of Jesus Christ, there is renewed hope that crime, corruption and the abuse of women and children would stop.

The Cathedral of Christ the King in Johannesburg is on Sunday celebrating the resurrection, with the congregation praying for a new life.

Catholic Priest Father Lawrence Ndlovu says Easter is not only about festivities but also about a reflection and changed behaviour.

“Being called, the people of the resurrection, the people of life, we then work consciously to the contribution of what brings life to our societies and to our world. It starts with even the most little things, you witness a crime, you report it. You don’t cooperate with, for example, with corruption, you make sure that you enhance the culture of life, the protection of children vulnerable adults, the end of abuse of women and children. And so on, that is what we talk about when we talk about the culture of life that is why Jesus Christ came into the world, that goodness may triumph over evil.”
