1 minute

The late Chieftainess, Nogcinile Mtirara, will be laid to rest at Mqhekezweni village outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape today.

The 71-year-old matriarch was shot and killed at Mqhekezweni Great Place on October 29.

The incident left the community destabilized.

It’s reported that two gun-wielding unknown men wearing balaclavas entered the Great Place and said they were looking for Nogcinile’s son.

They then allegedly fired two shots, killing her instantly after she told them to go away.

Another elderly woman, a retired 80-year-old nurse, Nonceba Timakhwe, who lived not far from the Great Place was also killed on the same night.

No arrests have been made as yet.

Meanwhile, five learners were allegedly robbed and raped at gunpoint at a nearby village on the same night.
