Kaizer Chiefs increased their chances of advancing to the quarter-finals of this season’s CAF Confederaation Cup after beating Zesco United of Zambia 1-nil at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
This was Chiefs second win in a row in Group C, after narrowly beating Zesco by the same scoreline in Ndola a week ago.
Kaizer Chiefs went into the match as slight favourites after they became the first South African team to beat Zesco United in Zambia.
Congolese international Glody Lilepo gave Amakhosi an early lead, scoring his second successive goal for the club after finding the winner against Marumo Gallants in Bloemfontein on Wednesday.
In another CAF Confederation Cup encounter played on Sunday afternoon, Stellenbosch FC lost 3-nil against CR Belouizdad of Algeria at the Cape Town Stadium.
The Algerians coached by former TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic scored two more goals in the second half to register aa convincing win.
The third goal was scored by substitute Islam Abbaci with two minutes remaining.
