Chief Zuma to appear for bail hearing in DA Chief Whip’s murder

Amanxamalala Traditional Authority’s Chief Simphiwe Zuma is expected to appear at the Howick Magistrate’s Court for a bail application.

Zuma is one of the five suspects linked to the murder of the Democratic Alliance (DA) Chief Whip in the Umngeni Municipality Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.

He was gunned down at his home in Mpophomeni near Howick in December 2023.

Zuma, who is Ndlovu’s uncle was arrested together with 26-year-old Thabo Mathonsi-Chonco last week.

Last month, the DA in KwaZulu-Natal said although the motive behind Ndlovu’s murder remains sketchy, they are questioning Police Minister Senzo Mchunu’s instruction to disband political killings task team in January.

The party said a lot of questions remain unanswered.
