Chief Justice Maya to host J20 Summit of Chief Justices next month

Chief Justice Mandisa Maya will host the 2025 Summit of Chief Justices and Presidents of Constitutional and Supreme Courts of G20 Countries next month.

The three-day gathering at the Sandton Convention Centre will run from the 2nd to the 4th of September, under the theme: “Justice in a time of Change: Independence, Innovation and Co-operation”.

Known as the J20 Summit, it was established in 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as a resolution of the 2017 G20 meeting in Hamburg, Germany.

This year’s meeting in Johannesburg will cover topics similar to those discussed at previous summits, such as rights and justice, sustainable development, strengthening the rule of law, and judicial reform.

The meeting will also address the role of justice in combating drug trafficking.
