Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala appears in the High Court in Johannesburg on October 20, 2025.
The attempted murder case against controversial businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and his four co-accused is expected to resume at the Alexandra Magistrates Court in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning.
Matlala is accused of attempting to murder his former girlfriend Tebogo Thobejane in October 2023.
They are facing several charges including attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
The case had been postponed for the state to add more charges against Matlala.
Last month, Matlala’s bail appeal application was denied by the High Court in Johannesburg.
In September, he unsuccessfully applied for bail with the lower court ruling that he is a flight risk and a danger to society.
In his judgment, Acting Judge Pieter du Plessis ruled that the interest of justice will not be served by releasing Matlala on bail.
