Businessman Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala together with co-accused appear in the High Court in Johannesburg on January 29, 2026.
The pre-trial hearing of businessman Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and his four co-accused is expected to resume on Friday morning at the High Court in Johannesburg.
Matlala is facing eleven counts of attempted murder, and a string of other charges.
This relates to the failed assassination attempts of his former girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni and music producer Seunkie Mokubong commonly known as DJ Vetteys.
After spending several months behind bars, Matlala together with his co-accused will make their second appearance at the High Court.
During their previous court sitting last week, the matter was postponed to allow Matlala’s defence time to engage the department of correctional services to arrange for Matlala to be transferred back to a prison in Gauteng.
This, after he was transferred to a maximum-security prison in Kokstad in KwaZulu-Natal. His attorney Annelene van-den Heever, claims that this has significantly hampered their ability to consult with him in preparation for his pretrial hearing.
