Case of five accused in Westbury mass shooting postponed

The case against five accused charged with the murder of two teenagers in Westbury has been postponed to the 13th of November 2025 for a bail application at the Johannesburg Central Magistrate’s Court.

They are also charged with five counts of attempted murder.

The five accused were arrested separately in connection with the shooting of seven teenagers in Westbury on the 14th of October.

The 17-year-old accused, who is not in custody, appeared alone. He was interrogated by social workers.

The four other accused made a brief appearance.

Media was not permitted to reveal the faces of the accused as there is still an identity parade that has to be conducted.

Police are expected to add charges of possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.
