Case of alleged underground boss Booysen sees another postponement

The case of alleged underworld figure Jerome Booysen and his 11 co-accused has been postponed to the 13th of April at the High Court in Cape Town.

This comes after the state witness, known as Mr X, took ill.

Mr X was undergoing cross examination by Booysen’s defense counsel, Amanda Nel.

This is the seventh week of cross-examination of the section 204 witness.

Nel has been dealing with the statements of Mr X leading up to him becoming a section 204 witness.

She has pointed to a number of alleged inconsistencies in the evidence that the witness gave to the police during the time of his arrest.

Booysen and his co-accused face charges relating to the 2017 murder of steroids kingpin, Brian Wainstein and the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
