The Chief Executive Officer of the Credit Association of South Africa (CASA), Leonie van Pletzen has welcomed government’s proposed amendment to the National Credit Act (NCA).
This after President Cyril Ramaphosa during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) announced that the National Credit Act would be amended in order to make it easier for small and medium enterprises to access credit at a lower cost.
Pletzen says the Credit Association of South Africa exists to help drive a credible credit industry that supports economic growth and financial inclusion.
“We support reforms that strengthen responsible lending while enabling compliant non-bank financial institutions to serve more South African’s in a sustainable manner. We will continue to engage constrictively with government and regulators to ensure that amendments to the NCA enhance both consumer protection and access to formal credit.”
