Cape Town police urge public to assist in Kanana mass shooting

Police in Cape Town have asked the public to assist in finding two men who may be able to provide crucial information following the fatal shooting of seven men at the Kanana Informal Settlement in Gugulethu early on Saturday morning.

Police say the victims, aged between 26 and 30, were socialising in the kitchen when they were attacked.

Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile says the shooting happened just 200m away from an earlier shooting where a man was killed.

He says the two men being sought might shed light on the murders.

Patekile adds, “We are looking for people that could assist us in our investigation. Known as Fire Lunga Madolo and Loyiso Matini. Those were in the two scenes. We have the information that two men came to the scene. The first scene and also in this scene it’s about two men, same description. Now we believe that these two will assist us in our investigation.”
