Police in Cape Town, in the Western Cape, have confiscated counterfeit cigarettes worth over R 700 000 during an operation in Atlantis.
Spokesperson, FC van Wyk, says during the raid officers also seized a firearm and ammunition.
He says a 39-year-old foreign national has been arrested.
“Members attached to K9 Cape Town and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation executed search warrants at Dolly Centre in Wesfleur Circle, Atlantis, at a Somalian shop. The members found a 9mm Makarov pistol with the serial number removed, nine 9mm rounds of ammunition, as well as 120 boxes of counterfeit cigarettes containing 230 cartons.”
