Helicopters water bomb the blaze on Table Mountain.
A female firefighter has been injured while battling the ongoing blaze in the Table Mountain National Park, between Tokai and Noordhoek.
The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, confirmed that the firefighter fell and injured both her legs.
Carelse says no major flare-ups were reported overnight. The fire started on Friday.
“On Saturday, it took a turn for the worst, the wind came up, the fire jumped over Ou Kaapse Weg and now we’re sitting with a fire that stretches along from Tokai all the way up to Fish Hoek, Clovelly, Kalk Bay and then on the other side down to Noordhoek.”
He says a large number of firefighting teams remain on the scene, including City Fire and Rescue Services, Table Mountain National Park, NCC, and Volunteer Wildfire Services.
“We have got an extensive amount of firefighters on scene—not only City firefighters but also Table Mountain National Park, NCC, as well as Volunteer Wildfire Services. This is a collaboration of different agencies working towards a common goal in extinguishing this blaze and hopefully, the weather aids us today. We have got cooler weather this morning, but I think later when the mist evaporates, we have got our hands full with the wind changing as well.”

Spokesperson Sonica Lategan says evacuees are being accommodated by friends, family, and at the Fish Hoek Civic Centre, where health care services are providing treatment.
Residents are urged to check in on neighbours, especially the elderly and those needing extra assistance. Those with pre-existing health conditions, the elderly, and children should take special precautions during smoky conditions, including using a damp cloth over the mouth and nose to reduce smoke inhalation. Symptoms such as coughing, throat irritation, shortness of breath, or chest pain should prompt immediate medical attention.
