Cannabis farmers attend 3-day expo in the Northern Cape

Northern Cape farmers who are keen to enter the cannabis industry have organised a three-day expo. The aim is to link those who are already in the industry with potential buyers.

Farmers who want to grow their businesses say access to land remains a huge challenge.

Those who have been farming cannabis for some time say despite some difficulties, they are starting to see rewards.

Chantel Steenkamp is one of the farmers and says, “I am a cannabis farmer and I have been doing it for a a year now. I have a thousand trees that I am going to regenerate now. I would like to own my own farm one day and I would also like to employ people. Currently I have six employees and I would like to expand in that and would like to expose this to other people so that they can also become businesspeople and farmers.”
