Transport Minister Barbara Creecy says Cabinet has approved the appointment of an interim board at the Road Accident Fund (RAF).
The Minister announced sweeping changes to the leadership of two major state-owned entities (SOEs),RAF and South African Airways (SAA), while giving an update on the boards of directors of some SOEs that fall under her department.
Creecy has confirmed the appointment of Kenneth Brown as interim chairperson of the appointed interim RAF board.
Brown, a former senior official at the National Treasury and current board member of the Development Bank of Southern Africa, will lead the RAF for the next six months or until a permanent board is appointed.
The previous board was dissolved on July 15 due to governance failures, financial mismanagement, and leadership instability

Creecy added that the board had been urged to cooperate with current and future SIU investigations.
SAA new chairperson
Creecy also announced Sedzani Faith Mudau as the new chairperson of the SAA board. Mudau, a seasoned chartered accountant and executive director of Favest Advisory, will head a diverse and experienced board tasked with restoring governance and financial stability at the national carrier.
The Minister has emphasised that both boards have been carefully selected to address long-standing deficiencies and to initiate reforms that will strengthen oversight, improve performance, and rebuild public trust in these critical institutions.
