The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) has dispatched a team to locate and capture lions on the loose.

This follows a complaint from community members of Malamule in Bushbuckridge about lions that were roaming around their area.

MTPA’s spokesperson Simphiwe Shungube says so far, their team has already managed to capture one lion.

“The latest development, we’ve managed to get one lion of which is now kept in our facilities for observations. Therefore we will then decide where it will be translocated to. The community indicated that they have spotted four lions but in terms of the tracks that we are following, only tracks for two lions but we are still busy searching using our drones and also a chopper from Kruger National Park.”
