British and Irish Lions claim victory against Australia

The British and Irish Lions have left it late but won the second test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The tourists scored their fifth and final try through fullback Hugo Keenan with only 50 seconds remaining to secure a dramatic 29-26 victory for an unassailable two-nil lead in the three-match series.

The spirited Wallabies raced into a 23-five lead after a three-try blitz in nine minutes in the first half but the patient British and Irish Lions scored two tries just before halftime to go into the break trailing by just six points.

The tourists added two more unanswered tries in the second half for a dramatic victory.

It’s the first time since their tour to South Africa in 1997 that the Lions managed to win the first two tests of a series, the third and final test is next Saturday in Sydney.
