Bozwana family opens conspiracy-to-murder case against 2 politicians

The family of slain North West businessman, Wandile Bozwana, has opened a case of conspiracy to murder against two senior politicians in the province.

They say the two politicians played a critical role in securing the services of hitmen to kill Bozwana. The family alleges that they were previously informed of a pending arrest of one of the two politicians, but political interference led to the decision being withdrawn.

Bozwana was killed in a hail of bullets on the Garsfontein off-ramp, east of Pretoria, in October 2015. He was with a business partner Mpho Baloyi who survived.

Mamelodi businessman Vusi Mathibela and three others have been convicted and sentenced for Bozwana’s murder.

However, the Bozwana family says the key people remain free.

Family representative Thabang Kotsedi, “We have documentation, statements and dockets that have not been investigated so far. And we are also in possession of a 205 statement that was deposed by a certain witness who is also part and parcel of the hit team that always does the killing of some politicians around the province to get rid of other ANC members around the province since the year 2012. The likes of Moss Phakoe, Happy Serongwane, Kabelo Nonyane”

North West Police Spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone has confirmed that a case of conspiracy to commit murder has been registered.

“The South African Police Service in the province confirms that cases you inquired about have been registered and will be investigated.” -Reporting by Lebogang Pebe.
