Parents of learners at the Wedela Technical School in Gauteng are worried about their children’s future.
The learners have been boycotting classes since Tuesday this week. They accuse school management and the provincial Education Department of failure to address a lack of water and electricity at the school.
The problem has persisted for many years.
This parent says they want the problem to be urgently addressed and lessons to resume.
“As parents, I want to see kids going back to school. The other problem that we are having, they said, they will fix it by making sure they bring a “Jojo” to provide more water for the kids. The issue of electricity, they will deal with it later on because it has been years without electricity at the school. We are worried about the situation of kids not attending, because tomorrow they will become other things.”
