Water sanitation plant under construction.
The councillor of Ward 30 at Botshabelo in the Free State Teboho Tukula has denied allegations of nepotism in a sanitation construction project.
Tukula says all appointments were fair and were made through a raffle in which residents participated.
This comes as some residents gathered at the project’s construction site, protesting against tender fraud with the alleged hiring of the ward councilor’s political affiliates and friends.
The residents say the positions were initially meant for the community.
Tukula says the allegations are unfounded.
“With the people who were selected, an open and transparent process occurred. There is no injustice that was observed being done. Everything was done in a justified manner. The people here can testify to that.”
