Bosthabelo man accused of his father’s murder represents himself

A 35-year-old man accused of murdering his 79-year-old father at Botshabelo in the Free State has opted to represent himself in court.

This is despite caution from the magistrate that he has the option of taking legal aid.

Lefu Posholi was arrested last week after being in hiding for more than two weeks.

He reportedly disappeared after his father, Sekoati Posholi could not be reached by relatives.

The family have called on the court not to grant him bail. They say seeing him outside when they are still mourning the death of the elderly Sekoati Posholi will traumatise them.

The 79-year-old was found in a shallow grave inside his house in Botshabelo earlier this month.

Family member Posholi Posholi, “We would not feel happy even other people would not feel happy if he is granted bail because we are still mourning. Seeing him outside will not be justice for us. We are made to understand that he told police where he was arrested in Bloemfontein that he said he did this and the reason he gave was that his father was planning to take him to Tlhaboloho rehab.”
