The Springboks are gearing up for their final test of the Autumn International series against Wales at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday. The World Champions are undefeated, beating Scotland and England and will no doubt be looking to end the year on a high and unbeaten on an end-of-year tour for the first time in 11 years.

The Springboks were put through their paces in Cardiff as they prepare for their final match of the year.

The Welsh were trounced 52-20 in their previous match against Australia on Sunday night, extending their losing streak to record 11 games on the trot. But according to assistant coach Deon Davids, South Africa will not underestimate their opponents.

“From a physical point of view, physical side and showing good structures. They as a team, maybe not at this stage in a good place in terms of their effort and how they played and how they fought back it’s never easy in Cardiff coming here. If you look back in terms of our performances against them, here so is a team that we respect that we know they don’t go away and we have to bring our game to ensure that we get a good result.”

Following their 29-20 victory over England on Saturday, Davids identified their defensive lineouts as one of the areas they will work on this week.

“Obviously in the last couple of years we haven’t conceded so many penalties from a defensive line-out perspective and it’s really something we pride ourselves on. We looked at that those are definitely things we can improve because it’s in our control. There also maybe one or two things that we have been unlucky but we rather focus on not developing a tag around infringing in areas that we don’t want to,” Davids added.

Coach Rassie Erasmus will name his matchday 23 on Tuesday while kick-off on Saturday is at just after 7:30 pm South African time.
