Body found in Olievenhoutbosch following heavy rains, flooding


The body of a man believed to have drowned after flooding from persistent rains has been found in Olievenhoutbosch, south of Pretoria.

City of Tshwane Emergency Services says it received a call about a suspected drowning and warns residents not to cross rivers or streams, as heavy overnight rain has left several low‑lying areas flooded.

Authorities say the man’s body was discovered in a swollen stream near Oripile Primary School.

“Due to the current rainy weather conditions, the city of tshwane emergency services has been responding to various flooding-related incidents across tshwane. residents are urged to remain vigilant and are strongly advised not to attempt crossing flowing or stagnant water, particularly where water levels reach knee height or higher, as this poses a serious drowning risk,” says Tebogo Maake, Acting Spokesperson for Tshwane Emergency Services.
