The bodies of two boys, between the ages of 10 and 11, have been retrieved from a water pond in Duduza, Ekurhuleni along Tonkmeter Road on Friday morning.
This follows the pair being reported missing last night.
The City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster Emergency Management Services responded to a suspected drowning incident earlier today.
On arrival, they discovered two sets of clothes next to the pond, believed to belong to the missing boys.
EMS spokesperson William Ntladi says the scene has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.
“Collectively with SAPS Water Wing and other relevant rescue stakeholders, we managed to retrieve the two bodies that were reported missing a day before. So positively, they were identified to be the missing boys and they were declared dead on scene by paramedics. The scene has been handed over to the police for further investigations.”
