The Border Management Authority (BMA) will give an update on the outcomes of its Easter period operations at the country’s ports of entry at a media briefing in Pretoria this morning.
Ahead of the Easter long weekend, BMA Commissioner Michael Masiapato and Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber announced that R150 million worth of technological devices, including body-cameras and drones, were being deployed at 71 ports of entry to combat corruption and strengthen border security.
Last week, nine suspects, including two officials, were arrested at the Beitbridge border post for alleged corruption and contravention of the Immigration Act.
