BMA intercepts over 4 000 travellers over Easter period

The Border Management Authority (BMA) says it has intercepted 4 763 travellers either trying to enter or leave the country during the ten-day Easter period operation at the country’s borders.

The authority says 3,1170 people were without proper documents to be in the country.

BMA Dr Michael Masiapato says some people who were intercepted had fraudulent visas.

He was addressing the media in Pretoria on the Easter period’s BMA operations at the country’s port of entry.

“Out of these, 4 763 were people without documents. They failed to produce yellow fever certificates.”
