South Africa, winners of the Cape Town Sevens in December, have failed to advance to the Cup semifinals of the Singapore leg of World Rugby’s Sevens series.
The Blitzboks finished a disappointing ninth at the Hong Kong Sevens last weekend and were dealt an early blow in Singapore.
Great Britain, eighth on the overall log, beat the ill-disciplined Blitzboks 38-10 in their opening Pool A match.
Tough start in Singapore as Great Britain beat the #Blitzboks by 38-10. An early red card followed by a yellow in the second half were very costly for SA as they leaked six tries

But the South Africans who are fourth on the overall standings, showed character by beating series log leaders, Argentina, 26-24 in their second match. Only the Pool winners advance to the Cup playoffs of this two-day tournament.
Argentina who earned a bonus point in the defeat to the Blitzboks, advanced from Pool A after beating Great Britain 19-12 in the decider and also secured the Series title in the process.
The #Blitzboks redeemed themselves with a superb victory over #HSBCSVNS series leaders Argentina in their second pool game in Singapore – more here:
