Confiscated unlicenced firearm
The police say they have arrested a young woman in Blikkiesdorp in Delft on the Cape Flats for the illegal possession of a Baby Browning pistol.
Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk says members of the Provincial Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team followed up on information that a firearm was hidden at a premise in the area.
Van Wyk says police found a woman on the premises and searched her.
The firearm was hidden under her clothes.
He says the suspect told the police that her father gave her the firearm to protect herself.
Van Wyk says the woman is being detained at the Delft police station.
