Beachgoers have been urged to exercise caution during the spring tide coinciding with the full moon. The peak occurs on Thursday and will affect tidal conditions over the Easter weekend.
The National Sea Rescue Institute NSRI has advised holidaymakers and anglers to be aware of the larger tidal variations.
NSRI Spokesperson Andrew Ingram says the tide can create rip currents.
“High tides and low tides will be higher and lower than usual throughout this weekend. Swimmers are urged to visit lifeguard protected beaches, and anglers and hikers should exercise caution, especially during the incoming high tides in the afternoon. Follow tide time tables, stay informed with local weather updates from the SA Weather Service and always prioritise safety,” adds Ingram.
