Outgoing National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss, Advocate Shamila Batohi, is expected to return to the Nkabinde Inquiry on Monday for the continuation of her cross-examination.
The inquiry led by retired judge Bess Nkabinde is looking into suspended South Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Andrew Chauke’s fitness to hold office.
Batohi has accused Chauke of making misguided prosecutorial decisions related to high profile cases including those of the Cato Manor death squad and former Crime Intelligence boss Richard Mdluli.
Last week the commission heard that the former head of the Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal, Johan Booysen, could be called to give evidence at the inquiry in Pretoria.
This is after a video surfaced of Booysen allegedly being present at a scene where suspects were being tortured.
The video, presented to the panel of the inquiry, allegedly shows Booysen and three others believed to be members of the police’s Cato Manor Death Squad, assaulting, shooting and killing a suspect.
