An empty court room.
A group of royal family members which supports Prince Morwamuhube Thulare as a regent, has welcomed the ruling by the Supreme Court of Appeal for the matter to be heard again.
This comes after a long dispute of members of the royal family and council opposing the appointment of the Queen Mother Manyaku as the regent.
Makoko Sekhukhune says government must withdraw the certificate of recognition to the Queen Mother as the regent of the Bapedi Kingdom.
“As a law-abiding citizen, we stated categorically that we will abide by the decisions and judgments of our courts, we hope the Premier of this province and our queen mother, as well as those faceless businesspeople, will respect the rule of law.
We are not above the law, neither is the premier or the queen mother coming to the judgment of the Supreme Court of Appeal in our view, it vindicates us if you read the judgment properly. The SCA remitted the matter back to Limpopo High Court for evidence to be led to determine what constitutes the real family.
The Bapedi customs and traditions are very clear on what constituted the royal family, the SCA made an order that experts may be appointed to shed light on this issue. We are satisfied with the ruling of the SCA.”
