‘Bakkie belonging to murdered KNP couple exited through Mozambique’

Kruger National Park spokesperson Reynold Thakhuli says preliminary investigation have confirmed that the bakkie belonging to the now deceased couple found at the Kruger National Park, exited the country through the Mozambican fence.

The two bodies were discovered near a river on Friday by other tourists.

“The vehicle has not been found but our rangers have done some preliminary investigations and it has been discovered that tyre tracks are pointing us to the car having exited the park through the fence in Mozambique,” says Thakhuli.

He says it is the first time that an incident like this has happened in the Kruger National Park.

“In the 100 years of Kruger National Park, it is the first time that we are seeing something of this magnitude,” Thakhuli adds.

SANParks says a search operation was launched on Thursday evening, after camp staff noticed the tourists had not returned to camp.
