The bail application of the 48-year-old Sipho Ngomane, accused of killing his wife, a police officer, Sergeant Joyce Ngomane, has been postponed to next Tuesday for further hearing at the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court, in Mpumalanga. During the accused’s last court appearance, the case was postponed due to the unavailability of the state prosecutor.
Ngomane allegedly stabbed the victim to death following an argument at their home in Ntunda Village in Nkomazi a few months ago. It is alleged that the couple had marital challenges since 2018.
Her husband, a teacher, is facing charges of murder and violation of a protection order.
Ngomane, who was attached to the Tonga police station, was murdered a week after the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The 43-year-old police officer stabbed to death in Ntunda East of Malelane, Mpumalanga will be laid to rest on Sunday.
