The African Transformation Movement says it’s getting ready for next year’s local government elections. The party is holding a national rally at the Petrus Molemela stadium in Bloemfontein, where it is expected to announce its strategy
leading the 2026 polls.
Party spokesperson Zama Ntshoba says the uMkhonto we Sizwe Party will share a message of support.
“Today, the African Transformation Movement is here in Bloemfontein for a national rally where we are mapping out our way towards 2026.”
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party’s National Organiser, Joe Ndhlela, says his presence at the national rally hosted by the African Transformation Movement in Bloemfontein is to consolidate and cement the relationship between the two parties.
He implores the party members to ensure that when they are elected into positions of power after the municipal elections next year, they serve the people and not their personal interests.
Ndhlela also weighs in on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit to the USA earlier this week.
“When an apostle talks about South Africa as a geographic place, it is not what we are. You are talking the truth. We are Azania, this is Azania, not South Africa. South Africa is what was represented in America when Cyril Ramaphosa met with Donald Trump. That was South Africa because it was a meeting of convenience and a meeting of signing deals under the table to consolidate white monopoly capital.”
Meanwhile, the president of the African Transformation Movement, Vuyolwethu Zungula, says they have united with the MK Party because they have a similar vision for the dispossessed of the country. He says the unity of the two parties will bring tangible differences.
Zungula says their mission is clear for the 2026 local government elections. He told party members that the campaign for 2026 starts now, not in 2026.
