Athletics South Africa has announced a 32-member preparation squad for the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana in May.
At the event in Guangzhou, China last year, Team South Africa finished top of the overall table by earning three medals. The men’s 4 by 100m, and 4 by 400m teams secured gold, while the women’s 4 by 400m quartet grabbed bronze.
To continue their dominance in Gabarone, ASA has included 19 men and 13 women in the preparation squad. They will be invited to train with the national relay coaches during training camps.
The likes of Olympic medalists Akani Simbine, Bayanda Walaza and Bradley Nkoana, as well as Wayde van Niekerk have been included in the group.
The event in Gaborone will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of May.
