The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre says assessments are still underway in areas affected by the recent heavy rains.
Several City departments are working to address the service-related impact of the downpours.
Spokesperson, Sonica Lategan says Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) have also stepped in to help.

She says the Mustadafin Foundation is assisting in Valhalla Park, while Ashraful Aid is helping in Gugulethu’s Waterfront and Phola Park.
“Meals on Wheels and Blue Ribbon Bakery have also come onboard and Community Chest will also deliver blankets to affected communities from tomorrow. Emergency incidents should be directed to the Public Emergency Communication Centre on 021 480 7700,” says Lategan.
