Witness B told the Madlanga Commission that the Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart was not the intended target when he was assassinated.
She says that Swart’s murder was a case of mistaken identity.
Swart, an employee at Q-Tech, was shot 23 times while sitting in his vehicle outside the company’s premises in April 2024.
Witness B says a whistleblower, who had exposed inflated prices quoted from a company linked to Katiso Molefe, was the intended target.
“That’s correct. That’s correct, commissioner. That’s when now he sent the cell phone number of the person that was intended to be shot (who) was believed to be a whistleblower.”
Commissioner Adv Sesi Baloyi SC: And the name?
Witness B: I don’t know if it’s safe to call out the name of the victim.
Baloyi: No, Witness B, that’s not necessary. But it was not Mr. Swart. Is that correct?
Witness B: It was not Mr. Swart.
